Natural hair and the versitility that come with it!
Recently MSNBC has dropped the Imus In the Morning Show, commenting that the men and women at MSNBC did not feel the talk radio show host portrayed the values that they have set for their company. This statement is following the latest Imus scandal over controversial words both degrading women and racial slurs towards the Rutgers womens basketball team. The slur used was "nappy headed hoes."
First let me start by saying, it seems rather ironic that most of the black women on the team had hair that seem to be relaxed(not"nappy"). If it were the case that some of the women were sporting natural styles, i fell that it is wonderful that role models would set an example on how versatile natural style are for women of color!
I often wear my hair natural in the summer as a fast out of the shower style, that is cool on my neck and shows my tattoo(with SPF 30 on it of course) giving me a nice BoHo chic look paired with a long white cotton skirt, chic blouse, and handmade jewelery.
To make sure my naturally curly hair is in good condition, I use:

- Nexxus Humuctress conditioner for every day and leave on
- Ojon restorative hair treatment once a week to repair daily damage
- use heat styling sparingly
- and always use a satin scarf or bonnet when sleeping on a cotton pillow case

Kurt Vonnegut 1922- 2007, A lesson in Skincare

Once, with his taboo cigarette and professorial attire at 84 years of age, Kurt Vonnegut said "I'm embarrassed to have lived this long. It's in terrible taste (laughs). You know I had a fire several years ago, and it would have been so shapely if I'd died in the fire. But here I am, and of course I'm suing the cigarette company ......" the journalist asked if Vonnegut was suing because of lung cancer, to which he replied"No. No. Because I'm eighty-three years old. The lying bastards! On the package Brown & Williamson promised to kill me. Instead, their cigarettes didn't work. Now I'm forced to suffer leaders with names like Bush and Dick and, up until recently, 'Colon.'" Now he finally accomplished the one thing he could never seem to do. After being captured in Dresden during WWII, a suicide attempt in the 80's, chain smoking close to a hundred cigarettes a day, and a more recent fire a year or so back, he just could seem to die, but was great at chronicling his life and the events of his world.
Our world isn't all that different than the world Vonnegut suffered to survive "in bad taste." In a rolling stone article, Vonnegut went to say "Bush is so ignorant. And I don't like idiotic, impulsive people." and on PBS said "George W. Bush is so dumb it wouldn't surprise me if he thought Peter Pan was a washbasin in a house of ill repute." Giving a good glimpse of how he felt about how are generation in running the country. We shall bring the end of the world and its the only major event Vonnegut missed.
As much as i respect Vonnegut's mind and work, there is one thing I must discuss with you. Vonnegut may have lived to a ripe age with that nasty smoking habit, but do you want to risk those wrinkles? Thought not. He shared a beauty tip with out even knowing it. Share your views and experiences with the world. Try to avoid war, don't smoke, don't attempt suicide, but definitely Do dissent, and you should avoid most of those crazy wrinkles Vonnegut sported till the grave, but still get the sophisticated expressions with age.

Spring Fling!!!!!!!!!
Spring is officially here and now is the time to perfect your new signature look if you haven't already! There are three methods that to know of to go about this, depending on the amount of time and creativity that you put into your look:
For those of you who have to time and creative energy flowing out you your perfectly lined eyes, I suggest sampling everything.
For those of you who have to time and creative energy flowing out you your perfectly lined eyes, I suggest sampling everything.
- You'll need non drying facial cleanser cloths, moisturizer, and your favorite tote or shopper bag.
- Do you Research! Look online and in your favorite mags for looks that reflect you favorite styles. Be sure and note product you would like to try or that you particularly like.
- Go to cosmetic counters, Sephora, other cosmetic boutiques, and sample everything that catches your eye! Don't commit till you've found your favorite products because there is nothing worst than getting home with a product that you'll never use that took a non-satisfying chunk of you budget. Make sure to note your faves and their prices, so you don't forget to go back for them and can keep a good idea on how you are doing on your budget.
- Congrats! your ready to buy! by now you have picked the perfect color palettes and enhancement products to shift you look into spring!
If your a hectic person on the go, working woman, on the run mom, or just busy volunteering your heart out, planning might be the way to go.
- During your email checking/waiting for that roast/waiting on a call time, surf the Internet for product line made for you lifestyle. An example of such a line is the Benefit Love Your Look Line or Iman's Spring Fling line.
- Try out the product that most fits your lifestyle, skin tone, and skin needs.
- Purchase the product, and get back to work!
To those of you not confident enough in your ability sift through the massive amounts of beauty products out there, we have all been there, don't worry.
- Look for a cosmetics company that fits your needs and reflects your style.
- Go to the counter and ask for a make over.
- be sure to be specific in what look you would like to see(more or less coverage, light, barely there, or dramatic).
- learn about application step by step.
- Purchase the products that you like.
Prices and budgeting can be very overwhelming, but keep in mind that you want quality products that will last the whole season. Cosmetics are very serious purchases that are meant to be made quarterly, so budget them as just that.
